Weight Loss Tips That Will Help You Reach Your Goals

Perhaps you’ve tried to lose weight dozens of times. Perhaps you found a plan you liked but soon lost interest and motivation. Perhaps you have tried unrealistic things like fasts, extreme diets, or overly intensive exercise. People are very different and so are their exercise patterns. These tips will help you to understand how weight loss works and which methods are the most effective.

Red Meat

Try eliminating read meat from your diet. Red meat is loaded in cholesterol and saturated fat, which means it can have a negative impact on the health of your heart. Leaner meats like fish or poultry are much healthier food choices than red meat.

When you are on the telephone, turn this time into extra workout time. Instead of sitting down while you are talking, get up and move around when you are on the phone. It is not necessary to do calisthenics. Simply walk around where you are or do some cleaning and you will lose the weight.

You can stick to your diet even at work and family events. Begin by selecting fruits and vegetables prior to any other fatty snacks. By doing this you can still join in the party without sidetracking your weight loss routine. Don’t announce your diet plans or make a giant deal out of them while at a party; just find a way to work with it.

French Fries

You can’t resist french fries, can you? Unfortunately, these foods can be the downfall in a weight loss program. However, it is possible to create “fries” that are good for you and won’t create havoc on your scales. 1/2′ cut potatoes combined with oil, salt and pepper can be baked for half an hour at 400 degrees. Add some rosemary for a touch of flavor. Gently loosen and turn the fries with a spatula, then bake for a final 10 minutes. These can be eaten with ketchup just like French fries, but you won’t miss the deep-fried calories. Thanks to Laurel’s Kitchen cookbook for these “French Bakes”!

Eliminate or reduce caffeine from your diet. Studies have demonstrated that stored fat is burned less quickly when you drink caffeine.

Always eat breakfast before going to work. Don’t make the mistake of grabbing a “convenient” breakfast just because you’re in a hurry. These foods have empty calories that are not useful for you. By eating a simple yet nutritious meal of oatmeal, fruit, whole-grain cereal or low-fat yogurt at home each morning, you eliminate the need to stop at that coffee shop or fast-food restaurant for a calorie-laden breakfast.

If you find that certain diet or exercise programs do not work for you, try something else. It may take some time to fine-tune your regimen. You don’t need to be hard on yourself or give up. Always have realistic goals in mind. It’ll take more than a few days to lose 10 pounds, for example. So this should not be your goal. Why make it impossible? Lose a couple pounds a week or every two weeks is a much more reasonable goal. Keep at it!
